Sanyo has once again come up with a great product in my opinion, a water resistant Digital Camera. The Xacti CA6 is splash proof, and specifically designed for easy one handed point and click shooting.

The CA6 can capture still images at 6Megapixel and can record videos at a much lower VGA resolution. The camera supports an external SD card. I believe this is something you can buy as your second camera, not first. You've just made a plan on the spot and this is what you need with you, so you can capture all the exciting moments and not worry about anything else.

The Xacti CA6 will cost you $400 and you can buy it at Amazon now!

Sony has announced three new Camcorders to its already impressive range in Handycams. These new Camcorders are hard drive equipped and hence no need to take care of the digital media, dvds, analog tapes, etc.

The Sony DCR-SR40 and the DCR-SR60 have a 30GB Harddisk which is equivalent to approximately 20 hours of recording, or if you really want 'high definition' (9MBps) then you'll get about 7 hours.  The Sony DCR-SR80 on the other hand has a huge 60GB harddisk so you can fit in about 40 hours of video @ 3MBps and 13-15 hours in 'high definition' mode.

Sony say that their new range of handycams use the HDD Smart Protection system, which brings together a killer combo of physical shock absorbers, G-sensor(TM) shock protection and video stream buffering. So even if you drop your camera by accident you won't loose your precious videos. It also has a 'One Touch DVD Burn' button that will burn video to your DVD-r directly, (ofcourse after connecting it to a PC )

The DCR-SR80 has a 2.7inch screen, 12x optical zoom, 1 Megapixel CCD and will be available by September for approximately $800. The SR-60 has about the same specs and will be cheaper by only $100. While the SR-40 will be even less for $400.

Pre-orders start on 21st July, and will be shipped in September.

Sanyo VPC-E7 and VPC-S7

Sanyo has launched two new digital cameras to it's already all impressive range in this category. Sanyo is one of the industry leaders when it comes to Digi-cams, and this time it is the 7.1 MegaPixel range they have decided to strengthen. The Sanyo VPC-E7 and the VPC-S7 are the two new models.

The VPC-E7 features a 7.1Megapixel CCD, 3x Optical zoom, 2.5 Inch LCD Screen and 4x Digital zoom. The E7 has the ability to take a 4GB external memory card to add to the 23MB internal memory which is already present, but ofcourse too little. The camera also has automatic Red-Eye correction technology. You can record short clips at 640 x 480 resolution and at 30 frames per second. The camera measures 91.1 x 55.5 x 21.6 mm and weighs approximately 115grams.

The VPC-S7 has almost identical features as the E7 except the Red-Eye correction and this one's bulkier than the previous one. Not too much of a difference thought between them.

It is still unknown that when these two will be available and at what price.
