Lohia Machines Limited (LML) has come out of the troubled times for the last year and now launched two new scooters in the Indian market. The company which is based in Kanpur launched the 150cc vespa scooters namely the NV SPL and Select II. The price for these is estimated to be around Rs. 35000. The stock prices of the company rose by over 15% after this news. LML resumed partial operations in April 2007 with the export of geared scooters to Egypt, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Lohia Machines faced financial trouble in 2006 and had to stop production at its Kanpur plant – which has a capacity of 300,000 scooters and 240,000 motorcycles. This trouble could now be a past thing as the company has chalked out new financial plans to restore the level to which the company performed over the years. At a point in time LML was the 5 largest player in the motorcycle business. |
