It all started in the year 2006 when Airtel teamed up with Research in Motion for the launch of BlackBerry in India. At first it was only Bharti Airtel who provided this premium service to its subscribers. Slowly as months went by, other provides tied up with the Airtel/RIM partnership to extend the BlackBerry service to other operators. After Airtel it was Orange/Hutch/Vodafone (all the same! , in order of name changes) who began offering these services to corporate clients. Now BlackBerry service in India has become a very common thing with every CEO carry a Curve or Pearl in their hand. BPL Mobile, Reliance Communications are now offering these services in parts of India. We now hear that Idea and BSNL are soon to launch the BB service in certain circles. |
