The first HD-DVD player released by Toshiba was pretty sad, in terms of size features and design. It was quite heavy and didn’t look attractive at all. There were other drawbacks like slow loading and it just did not fit the bill. However, since then they seem to have been looking to correct their mistakes and look forward to getting something better for the consumers.

The Toshiba HD-A2’s loading speed is almost twice the speed of the HD-A1 or the previous HD-DVD player whatever you may call it. The price of this latest HD-DVD player is about $499 and that is certainly reasonable. There is still no compatibility with 1080p, but for those of you who have the 720p TVs the HD-A2 is a good buy.

The word from Toshiba is that 1080p will be supported with the HD-XA2 player, so unless your TV supports it no use going for that one!
