Page 1 of 2 Sony has announced three new Camcorders to its already impressive range in Handycams. These new Camcorders are hard drive equipped and hence no need to take care of the digital media, dvds, analog tapes, etc.The Sony DCR-SR40 and the DCR-SR60 have a 30GB Harddisk which is equivalent to approximately 20 hours of recording, or if you really want 'high definition' (9MBps) then you'll get about 7 hours. The Sony DCR-SR80 on the other hand has a huge 60GB harddisk so you can fit in about 40 hours of video @ 3MBps and 13-15 hours in 'high definition' mode. Sony say that their new range of handycams use the HDD Smart Protection system, which brings together a killer combo of physical shock absorbers, G-sensor(TM) shock protection and video stream buffering. So even if you drop your camera by accident you won't loose your precious videos. It also has a 'One Touch DVD Burn' button that will burn video to your DVD-r directly, (ofcourse after connecting it to a PC ) The DCR-SR80 has a 2.7inch screen, 12x optical zoom, 1 Megapixel CCD and will be available by September for approximately $800. The SR-60 has about the same specs and will be cheaper by only $100. While the SR-40 will be even less for $400. Pre-orders start on 21st July, and will be shipped in September. |
