Page 1 of 2 Averatec recently announced their ultraportable laptops which are actually value for money. They are much cheaper than the Sony Vaio's of the world and easy to carry around. Ofcourse you would think that there is a difference in quality which is bound to exist but there has to be some trade-off somewhere! The Averatec AV2260-EK1 has a 1.8 GHz Mobile AMD Turion 64 MT-32 processor. Packing it with 1GB RAM at 400Mhz Front Side Bus Speed. One of the downsides in this is the VIA DeltaChrome IGP Graphics card, which certainly can't compete with the Powerpacked GeFore 7800 GTs and others. It has a DVD-RW and a 802.11 a/g WiFi card. To go along with the 80 GB hard disk it's a neat package i must say. The screen size is 12.1 inches weighing only 4.2lbs. All of this for approximately $1000. I am certainly thinking of switching over from my old huge Inspiron 9300! Photo on the next page.. |
