HP has now come out with a budget laptop specially for those who can't afford it or don't want the extra thrills and frills offered by Windows Vista. The HP 510 looks to be targetted to an Asian consumer base and should definitely do well in India, if and when launched here. The HP 510 laptop comes with a 15.4 inch screen with 1.40GHz Celeron M processor (ofcourse upgradable to 2.13GHz Pentium M), 512MB RAM ( and upgradeable to 1GB if needed), a 60GB hard disk drive, DVD combo (or a DVD-RW if you want), Intel GMA 900 video card, and WiFi 802.11 b/g. The laptop will run on Windows XP pro and weighs about 2.7 kgs. The cost of the HP 510 base model is close to $550, so its a decent buy. Even though, i rather prefer the Dell Inspiron 1501 (which runs an AMD Turion XL-50 dual core processor) and is available at the same price. ![]() |
